Do you love to explore Texas? Are you curious about what makes up the big state? Then join me on my latest adventure where I’ll be exploring the Texas trail. I’ll also share my thoughts, writing and travels along the way. My name is Vikk Simmons and I’m delighted to be your guide.
Over the next several months l’ll be posting about the fantastic places that make up this big state and more as I explore Texas. Houston is my home base but that doesn’t stop me from traveling to San Antonio, the Hill Country, Austen and more. Of course, Galveston is less than an hour away and a great spot for a quick getaway. With all the seven regions of Texas being as diverse as they are, we’ll have a lot to talk about. Have you been to Glen Rose and seen those giant dinosaur footprints?
Explore Texas wine, dinos, and painted churches
What do you think about when you think Texas? Cowboys? Oil? Maybe something about space? Do you know that Texas now has a wine country destination that rivals that of California? Or that the Texas Spanish missions actually predated those in California? Have you heard about the gorgeous painted and stenciled churches that dot the Texas landscape? Or would you be surprised that the big state has the big T-Rex in its history? All this and more awaits you over the coming months.
I’m no stranger to Texas having lived here for more years than I care to remember, and I’ve been writing about Texas for quite some time. My past books, written with Elaine L. Galit, include Exploring Houston with Children, Exploring the Arts and Culture in Houston with Children and, of course, Exploring Texas History: Weekend Adventures. Be sure and check out Exploring Texas History: Weekend Adventures. Happy trails!
